Indian Society for Technical Education



The Indian Society for Technical Education is a national, professional, non-profit Society registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. First started in 1941 as the Association of Principals of Technical Institutions (APTI), it was converted into "Indian Society for Technical Education" in 1968 with a view to enlarge its activities to advance the cause of technological education. The major objective of the ISTE is to assist and contribute in the production and development of top quality professional engineers and technicians needed by the industries and other organizations. Being the only national organization of educators in the field of Engineering and Technology, ISTE effectively contributes in various missions of the Union Government. The Ministry of Human Resource Development,CTE/DST/MIT/State Govts. are well associated with the ISTE for programmes relating to technical education.
Official inauguration of the ISTE-HCET Faculty Chapter (KE-72) was on 22 July 2013 by Dr.Basil Ganappa, Executive Secretary,ISTE and presided by Dr.Anil.B, ISTE Kerala Section Chairman in the presence of Dr.A.R.Babu,Chairman-HCET.

24th Annual Convention ISTE Kerala Section

The 24th ISTE State Annual Convention of Kerala Section was held at Heera College of Engineering and Technology (HCET), Nedumangad, Thiruvanathapuram on 16th November 2013. The theme of the Convention was “Challenges and Opportunities in Technical Education, Research and Innovation in the Digital World”.
Dr. K. Satheeshkumar (Principal, HCET) welcomed the gathering and Mr. Mohan Abraham(CEO, HCET) shared Vision HCET on the occasion. Padma Vibhushan Dr. G. Madhavan Nair, (Former Chairman, ISRO) delivered the keynote address. Mr. A. R. Subin(Director, Heera Group) released the Souvenir and Heera Group chairman Dr. A. R. Babu announced the sponsorship for ISTE-HCET Best Teacher State award. ISTE awards for the year 2012-13 were declared by Mr. Nithin Padmanabhan(Treasurer, Kerala section) and the awards were distributed by Dr. S. Basil Gnanappa(ISTE Executive Secretary). Felicitations were offered by Shri. Koliyakode. N. Krishnan Nair (MLA), Shri. Shinu (Panchayath ward member), Shri. Samuel Mathew (Joint Director of Technical Education), Shri. C. K. Mohanan (Director, VHSE), and Shri. Hassan Yakud (PTA Vice President, HCET). Er. Gopakumar.R Asst. Prof. ME dept of HCET, (Organising Secretary) proposed Vote of Thanks.
